I couldn't ask for a better man to share with me his name ( Rodney). I remember being hired as a server and then GM Kathy S. introducing all of us new hires as we toured the restaurant. Mr. Thompson was multitasking in the dish pit area. I remember thinking to myself, " God bless this middle age man who is more active than most men half his age, and he seemed content washing dishes and scraping plates. Then, Kathy stated, " That's Mr. Thompson, aka Mr. T"
I would forever think differently about how I would define success."
These were some of the darkest days of my life, in the throws of addiction, I was sure I was on borrowed/limited time.
I remember me sharing with Mr T my challenges. And him walking me out back and praying for and with me almost to the point of tears.
" I'm no different than you, we just have different struggles, " he said.
Here this highly successful man met me where I was, and stood with me in prayer declaring we are ALL one and the same.
I never forgot that.
Never.
I'm convinced that had Dixie Crossroads , namely Mr. T, Mrs. Mary Jean, Laurilee and Kathy, had not shown me compassion and understanding at a time that I needed it the most- I would not be here today.
But, thankfully I am.
I am an honors graduate, A Rollins College Scholarship recipient, and Founder and Executive Director of aa non profit that assists kids (who face similar challenges that I have in the past) empower themselves to be better.
In the same manner that Rodney Thompson lifted himself up with one arm, while lifting himself up with the other- I too have adopted that same principle.
For that, he will always have a special place in my heart, along with countless others.
Thank you Thompson Family.
You were instrumental in me choosing to live!

To Laurilee and Family:
So very sorry for the loss of your Father. Our church offered prayers at our services over the week end. A lot of our members knew him and your family and have nothing but great respect for him and his accomplishments and also all the family. Hope the memories will help somewhat to ease suffering you are going through. Our prayers are with you.
Members of the Mims United Methodist Church.

I worked for the Thompson family for 15 years at Dixie Crossroads and I felt like part of the family and always will. When my youngest son had cancer they did a benefit day where all the money went to his medical needs. It was an awesome day. Then when my son died he paid for the funeral - that was so touching!! My kids grew up on rock shrimp! I remember working on Thanksgiving with the kids to give the homeless a meal on Thanksgiving. Such a sharing man. I will truly miss Rodney. My best to the family.

I've known this man and his family all my life. Everyone who worked for and knew Mr. Thompson knows he was a very kind and caring man. He gave Titusville his whole life and so much more. Mr. Thompson like my father John Emmick had boat building and fishing in their blood. I hope there is good fishing in heaven so he can be at peace. Titusville and myself have lost a good man. Be one with God my Thompson and bless your family. Kurt D Emmick

To Mary Jean, Laurilee, Tom, Sherylanne and families,
We share in your loss of Rodney, one of the finest gentlemen we have ever known. He was a man of integrity ... a man of his word. We sold the boats he built and could not have been prouder, knowing that he would stand by his high-quality standards. It has been such a privilege to know Rodney and you, Mary Jean, along with your wonderful family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. We wish you comfort, peace and wonderful memories.
Glenn & Alma Drummond & family.

Laura Lee and family,
Saddened to read of your patriarch's death. May precious memories of his life help to sustain you all during this difficult time. He was not only a pioneer in Brevard County but also a patriot serving our country during the Korean War. God speed, Mr. Thompson.
With deepest sympathy,

My deepest prayers, respect, and condolences to the Thompson family at this time of loss, especially to Mrs. Thompson and my dear old high school friend Sherry. When it comes to boats, marine business, or seafood there is no other name around these parts. Thank you Sir for a life well lived and the massive gift of yourself and your talents to our community and well beyond. May your spinnaker be full as you cross the Heavenly Horizon into your final Port O' Call. God's blessings and comfort be with all you leave behind.

Thinking of Rodney Thomson and Family.....

Rodney was such an amazing business innovater and Family man. He was helpful, generous and kind to all he met. He, Mary Jane and their Family made us and many, many people feel like Family. We, as anyone who knew him, were thankful that he was in their lives!

His well known generosity for example, provided his Family and their friends wonderful times enjoyed in a month long ocean side rental for 12 plus years. There we all enjoyed watching the child grow each summer. The Best of Times! 😍

We so enjoyed celebrating many Thanksgivings with the members of Rodney's Family, their friends and friends of Rodney and Mary Jean's. Everyone was made to feel like Family. I always brought him his favorite, lemon marange pie. We often thanked them for 'adopting' our Family!

Fortunately, we last saw Rodney at a wonderful small luncheon with MaryJane and some friends while Rodney was in fairly good health. That meant so much to Skip and I.

Thank you Rodney.....your were loved, respected and a Very Good Man.........💋

RIP Rodney Thompson, you will be missed!!!

Very Sincerely, Janet, Skip, Curt and Derek Olson

Rodney Thompson is my cousin, and an extraordinary man. Though we may try here, no words can capture him. Creative, intense, generous, modest, hardworking, entrepreneurial -- these are hardly even a start.

He was unique and, as my Mom used to say (in obvious admiration) both "a really good guy" and "a character". You just had to love him . How could you not?
