Harley Gheen was a great friend to the boating community and you could describe him as a legend in his own time. The thousands of Gheenoe boats he manufactured brought a lot of pleasure to small-boat owners. I still have the 1977 low-sider that he made for me in the garage of his Titusville home. And its never leaked a drop. I wrote a story for the Today newspaper back then as he was just starting his business. Everyone wanted to know where I got that boat. Needless to say his little business mushroomed into a big business and I hope it will continue as a tribute to Harley. The big-hearted country boy with the great smile will be missed by everyone.

Mr. Gheen changed my outlook of the boating industry, the type that a handshake was still worth a man's reputation! It hurts us all to see that old generation pass away.
