Obituary

TITUSVILLE - F. George Dirschka, 93, passed on 14 June 2021. George was a 1st generation American born in Brooklyn, NY and raised on Coney Island by his parents Anna and Alfred Dirschka who immigrated to the US in 1907. He joined the US Army in 1945 at 17. He was deployed to Germany at the end of WWII in the US Army of Occupation. George served as Sergeant MP with Troop A 15th Constabulary Squadron in Schabisch Hall, Germany. He worked as a desk sergeant in the provost marshal section, handled prisoners and patrols. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged from the service he returned to his job at Loesers Department Store in Brooklyn, New York, as an electrician's apprentice. In 1950 he joined the New York State Troopers and after 22 years retired as a Captain of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation with numerous commendations. In 1974 George moved with his family to Florida and joined the State Attorney's Office in Titusville as an investigator.  He received an associate degree from Rollins College and a bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. He retired from the State Attorney's Office after 16 years of service. George loved life and enjoyed his many years in retirement.

    George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Yaeger, children: Paul (Pamela), Constance Ashworth, Virginia (David Fredrick), Eric (Carrie). Grandchildren:  Kimberly, William,  Samantha, Paul, Jocelyn, Megan, Alex and Allison.  Great grandchildren: Olivia and George Leo Tundo of Milan, Italy.

    Military Honors will be held at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a future time.  In lieu of flowers consider George's favorite organization www.AmericanHumanist.org.
