Obituary

Wayne Joseph Kenney passed away on April 29, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born on March 5, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Ada Harris and George Kenney. He moved to Florida where he worked for many years at the Kennedy Space Center. He and his wife retired to St. James, Missouri. Later moving to Gonzales, Louisiana and have been residents for the past seven years. He was the loving husband of Frieda Shelley Kenney for 68 years, a true love story. Together they raised four children; Shelley Braud, Robin Lenox, Joe Kenney (Jeannie) and Alan Kenney. He was blessed with many grandchildren; Jason Emory, Elisha Whitstine, Rod Braud, Ryan Lenox, Courtney Van Hemert, Joseph Kenney, Chris Kenney, David Knight, Amanda Hatchcock, Cherri Craig, Amber Kenney, Alan Kenney Jr., Frankie Brooks V, Jessica Mcpeak and his great-grandchildren Jessica, Cash, Jude, Taylor-Ann, Noah, Sawyer, Sierra, David II, Braiden, Joseph, Caleb, Terra, Laila, Jasmine, Bella, Sophia, Austin, Trenton, Treana, Kenneth Jr., Josiah, Justice and his great-great grandchildren Canyon, Mack, Prezley-Ann, Benjamin, Ryla, Starla,Cassidy, Mia, Grayson, Frankie vi and Gregory. He is survived by his sister Mary Clancy (Lee) and many family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim and his sister Juanita.

Wayne never met a stranger and had friends all over the country. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing racquetball. He was always up for a good game of pool. Through his many adventures in life he always had a good story to tell. His stories will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Bridgeway Healthcare nurses and CNAs for all of there continues care and compassion for Mr. Wayne.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 5pm till 8pm. He will then be making his journey back home to Missouri for Funeral services and burial at Cedar Grove cemetery in Salem, MO.
