Rosemary A Skufca

Rosemary Anne Skufca was finally called to God on May 19, 2019 at age 81. 

Rosemary was born September 1, 1937 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to Frank and Mary Rose McNellie.  Her family moved to Geneva, Ohio when Rosemary was 13 years old.

After graduating from Kent State College with a teaching degree, she married the love of her life, William (Bill) J. Skufca on August 22, 1959.  Together with Bill, and their growing family, they relocated often. The family resided in Ohio, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Florida, and New York, before settling in Titusville, Florida where Rosemary lived her final 39 years.  In addition to raising her six children, Rosemary spend several years teaching or substituting in elementary school.  Some of those years were at St. Teresa Catholic School in Titusville.

Rosemary loved travelling to visit friends and family and seemed to seek even the slightest excuse to spontaneously drive any distance to help out.  It was even better if she was visiting grandchildren or great grandchildren who she so loved to dote over.  She was always up for playing games (especially card games) and building puzzles.  She was an avid crafter and especially loved creating beautiful greeting cards. 

Faith in Jesus and a devotion to Our Blessed Mother, Mary, were an important part of Rosemary’s life.  She was a parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mims, Florida.  Over the years she served the community as a lector, minister to the sick, extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Bible study facilitator, and Golden Agers group coordinator.  Rosemary was also an active participant in the Cursillo movement since 1973.

Rosemary was very grateful for the extension on life she received in 2003 when she was blessed with a liver transplant (thanks to the thoughtful organ donation of a stranger).

Rosemary is survived by her devoted husband - Bill; children – Stacy Lytle (Brad) of Titusville, FL; Bill Skufca (Colleen) of Wilmington, NY; Mannette Graspointner of Wilmington, NY; and Joe Skufca (Meg) of Niskayuna, NY; siblings – Bud McNellie (Judy) of Chagrin Falls, OH; Bill McNellie (Debbie) of Canton, GA; Dick McNellie (Jan) of Montgomery, TX; Betsy Deering (Jim) of Little River, SC; and Dan McNellie (Cindy) of Medina, OH; sister-in-laws – Rosemary Richards of Ft. Myers, FL; and Theresa Davis of Ashtabula, OH; grandchildren – Katie Templeton (Robert), Erin Teufert (Jake), Ben Lytle (Tracey), Teri Rausch (Joe), Alex Lytle, Sarah Lytle, Caitlin Skufca, Erin Skufca, Gus Graspointner, Danielle Skufca, Evan Skufca; and great grandchildren – Alice and Violet Templeton and Brice Teufert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents – Frank and Rose McNellie; son – Greg Skufca; adopted daughter – Sandy Pippin; and son-in-law - Hans Graspointner.

Rosemary’s life will be celebrated on Thursday, May 30 at Holy Spirit Church, 2309 Holder Rd, Mims, Florida with a visitation at 10:00am, funeral at 11:00am with a reception to follow in the parish hall.  In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the religious education program at the church.  Make checks payable to Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
