Obituary

Ronald M. Carroll, 73, of Canandaigua, NY and Titusville, FL, passed away on April 13, 2022. Ron was born on August 7, 1948 to William and Bernadette Carroll in Bridgeport, CT. In kindergarten, he met Karen, and they wed in 1968, going on to have two children, Jonathan and Ronald.

Ron was predeceased by William Carroll (father), Bernadette Carroll (mother), and William Carroll Jr. (brother). He is survived by his wife of 53 years Karen Carroll, Jonathan Carroll (son) & Lorri Carroll (daughter-in-law), Alyssa Carroll and Amanda Carroll (grandchildren), Ron Carroll (son) & Holly Carroll (daughter-in-law), Emily Carroll, Sean Carroll, Jake Wright and Hannah Wright (grandchildren), Brian Carroll (brother), many extended family members, and friends.

Ron was a graduate of Fairfield Prep class of 1966 and earned an associate’s degree from Sacred Heart University, both in Fairfield, CT. Ron spent his entire career at Southern Connecticut Gas Company as Information Technology Director. He was a volunteer firefighter in Shelton, CT for 25 years. He also volunteered his time on the Board of Directors at Lake Ashuelot Estates, Washington, NH as the manager of the marina and served for ten years on the Architecture Review Committee for The Great Outdoors RV - Nature & Golf Resort in Titusville, FL.

Ron had a wealth of miscellaneous knowledge and could often be found reading about everything. This miscellaneous knowledge made it possible for him to fix just about anything, and if he couldn’t fix it, he would read about it or watch YouTube until he could. He enjoyed riding his bike many miles a day (stopping to visit every neighbor along the way) and “shopping” at the mall (a.k.a. the local transfer station).  From his early days working on cars (including turning Karen’s 1963 Ford Falcon into a drag racer), Ron loved all things racing. He often visited car shows, car museums, and collected car memorabilia. Ron enjoyed camping and boating with his family and was always up for an adventure. Ron and Karen traveled around the country with their RV, visiting many NASCAR tracks over the years to cheer on the Earnhardts. Ever since the first camping trip to Fort Wilderness in 1976, Ron was a Disney enthusiast, eventually becoming a “winter settler” in loop 200.

Ron was a friend to everyone he met and always willing to help others. Anyone who knew Ron, knew that he was the most loving husband, father and grandfather a family could ask for. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. He will be greatly missed, and his memory will live on with everyone who loves him.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, all donations be sent to the American Diabetes Association (https://diabetes.org) or the American Heart Association (https://heart.org).
