Patricia Haynes, 81, passed away peacefully in her home on August 6, 2022. She was born on April 8, 1941 in Wichita, Kansas, the first born child of Beulah (Campbell) and Ray Sharp. She graduated from East High School in 1959 and attended Kansas State University and Wichita State University where she was in the Kappa Delta sorority and studied to become a teacher. While attending Wichita State, she became engaged to Bill Haynes and they wed on December 22, 1961.
She moved to Titusville, Florida in 1963 and has been a resident in that community for 59 years. Patricia was an active member of First Baptist Church of Titusville and was a founding member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. As a congregant of both churches, she held many active roles. Among them were Sunday School teacher for children and adults, Vacation Bible School teacher, Nursery Coordinator and she served on multiple church committees. She returned to First Baptist Church of Titusville in the early 80's.
As her three children got older, she returned to college to continue her pursuit of a degree in Education. She graduated from Florida Technological University (now UCF) in 1976. She spent the entirety of her 31 year teaching career at South Lake Elementary School where she taught at every grade level, except for Kindergarten. She particularly loved teaching science to students in 4th thru 6th grades and working as a Title 1 teacher. She was selected at South Lake as their Teacher of the Year twice. The first time during the 1994-95 school year, and then 9 years later during the 2003-04 school year. She was also an active member in Alpha Delta Kappa, a teaching sorority.
Patricia loved sewing and was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. Her other hobbies included reading, Book Clubs, and attending productions at the Titusville Playhouse.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Beulah Sharp and her sister Twila Willard. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bill; her daughters, Kathy Fox of Titusville, Jill (Gerd) Czekalla of Dusseldorf, Germany, and son, Garrett Haynes of Titusville. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Steven (Lauren) Westmoreland, Talan (Savanna) Westmoreland, Patrick (Megan) Haynes, Caroline Haynes, Alec Czekalla, Claudia Czekalla, and Eva Czekalla. Patricia was also blessed to be survived by six great granddaughters: Aubrey, Zoey, Gianna, Lydia, Laurelei, and Haven, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her memorial service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville.
