Obituary

Mary Aileen Hursey, 77, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2021, with her twin daughters, family and friends at her side.  Mary is survived by her dearly loved twin daughters, Jennifer Hursey and Kimberly Fossum; much loved and adored son-in-law Kirk Fossum, Scott Walters and his son Carson.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John; father Berry Hoskins and mother Chloe Hoskins; and 7 brothers and sisters.

Mary was born to Berry and Chloe Hoskins on April 20, 1944 in Hyden, Kentucky.  She and her siblings grew up on her parents’ farm surrounded by many animals.  Prior to moving to Florida in the late 1960’s she completed her nursing degree, then began her nursing career at Jess Parrish Memorial Hospital in Titusville, Florida.  She married John W. Hursey on March 24, 1973 and had twin daughters in 1979.  Mary retired in 2000 from Parrish Medical Center as a nurse of 31 years.

Mary was strong, kind, and loving with a beautiful smile which was always brightened by her favorite red lipstick.  She loved the warmth of the sun on her face whether sitting by her pool or on a balcony overlooking the ocean.  Mary enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking for family, friends, and neighbors.  Her chocolate covered peanut butter cookies were a requested favorite at Christmas.  If you were to ask anyone what they remember of Mary, they would say she was a very classy woman who was always dressed “to the nines”.   Mary loved laughing and telling stories with friends and family.  She could spend countless hours on the phone every night swapping stories with her besties.  Most importantly, Mary will be remembered for the love she had for her girls, her world.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at New Fellowship Baptist Church, 1840 Old Dixie Hwy, Titusville, FL.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, FL.
