Mary Frances Hickerson

Mary Frances Hickerson, 94, passed away on July 13, 2019.

She was born on March 3, 1925 on a farm near Bloomfield, Kentucky to the parents of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Houglin.  She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1943, received a B.A. degree from Asbury College at Wilmore, Kentucky.  After graduation, she was united in marriage on June 24, 2947 to Rev. Archie C. Hickerson who was from Maysville, Kentucky.

Her deceased parents were John Snider Houglin and Jim Rose Houglin of Bloomfield, Kentucky.  Her two deceased brothers were Rev. Aaron D. Houglin and Marvin T. Houglin.  She was predeceased by her husband Rev. Archie C. Hickerson.  They were married for 47 years.

She taught high school English and Spanish for 19 years and substituted teaching after retirement.  She and Archie had 47 years in the ministry serving churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Minnesota, Illinois and Florida.  She and Archie leave behind many cherished friends.

She loved traveling in their trailer, camping, fishing, crafts and entertaining friends in their home.  Mary Frances was known for her homemade apple pie and won first place for the “Best Apple Pie”.

They were the proud parents of Philip Anthony, 67, (Williamsburg, OH), Mark Alan, 64, (Leesburg, FL), and Rex Edward, 56, (Merritt Island, FL).  The grandchildren are Eric Alan, Barbara Rose and Clint Austin.  Great grandchildren are Griffin Alan, Jackson Joel, and Charleston Rose.

She enjoyed her time with family babysitting, camping, birthdays and graduations.

She enjoyed her retirement days in Titusville, FL and Merritt Island, FL having enjoyed many activities.

Her favorite scripture verses were Philippians 4:13 and Psalms 91:1-2.
