Martha Williams

Martha Fox (Johnson) Williams, 86, of Titusville passed from this life on November 3, 2017.

Born on September 8, 1931 in Dawson Springs, Hopkins County, Kentucky, the first of 3 daughters born to George W. and Nell K. (Talley) Fox.

Martha moved with her family to Titusville, Florida in June 1967.  While raising her family she worked as a substitute teacher and completed her high school GED then her college degree in Elementary Education, graduating from EFSC (then BJC) and UCF (then FTU) in 1975.  She continued to work as an elementary school teacher for Brevard Public Schools for the next 20+ years at Pinewood, Riverview and Apollo Elementary Schools.

She was for many years an active member of First Christian Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, church secretary and tutor coordinator.

Martha is preceded in death by her daughter, Sara Ann Johnson, her parents, her husband Bill M. Williams, and her children’s father H. Ray Johnson.

She is survived by her children Dr. Douglas Johnson and wife JoAnn of Princeton, KY; Patti Johnson of Louisville, KY; Laura Johnson (Maitlen) of Port St. John, FL and  Jeffrey Johnson of Port St. John, FL; 4 grandchildren, Joshua Maitlen (Becky) of Rockledge, FL; Justin Maitlen (Lea) of Smyrna, TN; Jacqueline Johnson Cheek (Eric) of Denver, CO; and Rebecca Johnson Wingfield (Vernon) of Pearland, TX; 4 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Garrett Maitlen, Chaney Wingfield and Henry Cheek: and her two sisters, Margaret Fox Holland and Virginia Mary Fox Calhoun, both of Cadiz, KY.

She is also survived by 4 step-children, Suzanne Williams Morton (Darl); Janie Williams Chandler; David Williams (Loann) and Beth Williams Iseman (Bob); 2 step-granddaughters, Amy Roberts and Jennifer Roberts Warrington (Rob) and 5 step -great-grandchildren, Lauryn, Logan, Gavin, Haleigh, and Adyson.

Services will be at First Christian Church.  The family will greet friends on Thursday evening, November 9, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm followed by a celebration of life on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11:00 am.
