Latteney Scott "Cotton" Swift, 66, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, Florida. He was born June 18, 1952, to the late Thomas C. "T.C" Swift and Betty Jane (Wells) Swift. Scott graduated from Owensboro High School, where he excelled in athletics, especially football, as well as track and field. He attended Oakland City College on a track scholarship until an unfortunate accident made it impossible for him to compete at the collegiate level any longer. Scott moved to Florida in 1978 and made it his home until he was reunited with those loved ones who had gone before him.
He was a member of Jordan Baptist Church in Sanford, Florida. He loved his Aunt Dora's fried chicken and UK sports. He will be remembered by his independent spirit and his unwavering resolve to live life on his terms.
Scott also was preceded in death by three brothers, Stephen T. Swift, Barry O. Swift and Marcus C. "Mark" Swift.
Surviving are two brothers, Michael T. (Brenda) Swift of Owensboro and Max (Dawn) Swift, both of Owensboro; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would especially like to thank Andy Wilson for being a brother in faith to Scott during their many years of friendship and during Scott's prolonged illness.
A memorial service will be at Jordan Baptist Church in Sanford, Florida, with private burial at a later date.
