Larry New

Larry Dow New, 77, of Mims, died January 9, 2020, husband of Myrna Balmer New. Larry was the son of Dow Lafayette New and Annie Bell Ivy New; and brother of Rilla Ann New, all deceased. Larry was born and reared in Atlanta, Georgia, and was a direct descendent of early pioneer and founder of Atlanta. He attended Roosevelt High school, Marietta College and Georgia Tech. Larry served in the US Navy, and then he worked for Cox Communications. He worked for RCA in the Bahamas and Lockheed at Kennedy Space Center. He was an avid antiques collector, dealer and restorer. He loved fishing, golf and lighthouses.

He was the father of Erik S. New, deceased. He is survived by daughter Marietta Dawn Brown of Sanford, FL; son Phillip Christopher Adkins of Richfield, MN; Patrick Adrian Adkins of Titusville; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 2pm Friday, April 3, 2020 at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church.
