Lamont James Balongue, 75, passed away at home on August 22, 2019. He was born on September 15, 1943 to the late Lyle and Stella Balongue.
Lamont (“Monty”) James Balongue served a distinguished 23 years in The United States Army and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer III. His military career was followed by an equally distinguished career with Lockheed Martin. He loved his work and was proud of his contributions to the Space Center and the space program. After he retired, his passion for service continued and he enjoyed volunteering for Parrish Medical Center. Monty was a “people person.” He made friends easily and everyone who knew him loved him. He loved his family above all else and always made sure his family was well cared for. He valued integrity, set high standards, and excelled at everything he did. Most of all he excelled at being a loving, caring and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, loyal brother, and best friend to those he cared about. He loved spending his free time with his family, singing, making others smile and enjoying a nice cigar at the end of the day.
Monty is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Heidi Balongue; Children: Tina Colston(Mike), Natalie Sellers (Bruce), and Brian Balongue (Michelle); Grandchildren: Cullen Colston, Garrett Colston, Griffin Colston, Duncan Colston, Aaron Sellers (Amy), Emily Sellers, Ethan Balongue, Ronan Balongue, Noah Balongue, Owen Balongue, “Baby Girl” Balongue (due spring 2020); Great granddaughter, Madeline Sellers; and Brother, David Balongue (Diane).
Lamont is predeceased by his son, Lamont Balongue Junior, who passed away in 2017.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 2-3 P.M. and a service following at 3 P.M. at North Brevard Funeral Home Chapel. Condolences may be left for the family at www.northbrevardfuneralhome.com
