Gill, Joseph A., age 84 of Titusville, FL, formerly of Tonawanda, NY. Joseph died peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2018 following a long illness. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ellen (Johns) and brother Richard, and parents John H. and Clara (Sullivan) Gill. He is survived by his sons Joseph (Mary) of Cocoa, FL; James (Deborah) of Bremerton, WA; and John of Titusville, FL; and daughters Elizabeth (Ove) Parmlind of Stockholm, Sweden, and Ann (Judith) of Billings, MT. He is also survived by grandsons Sean of Melbourne, FL; and Erik Parmlind of Bratislava, Slovakia; and granddaughters Jennifer ( Michael) of Kenmore, NY; Beth of Houston, TX; and Emilie Parmlind of Dusseldorf, Germany.
Joseph was born in Buffalo, NY and studied at Canisius College. He was a long-time resident of Tonawanda where he was a member of St. Edmund’s Church. He was also a member of the Teamsters’ Union and truck driver for Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) for many years, before retiring to Titusville to be closer to family. He enjoyed classic cars, collecting guns, and watching old movies and John Wayne films, as well as playing the organ.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm Tuesday night at North Brevard Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at 1 pm at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mims, FL. Internment will take place at a later date in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Tonawanda.
