Joel Carr

Joel Bernard Carr, 68, died March 9, 2019. Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Joel was a lifelong resident of Florida.  Raised in Sarasota, Clearwater, San Antonio and Stuart, he was a 1969 graduate of Martin County High School. He settled in Titusville in the 1970’s. Joel was a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous and greatly supported his Home Group of many years. He was very proud of his accomplishments in that organization. He was also a cherished mentor to those in the Lifeline Recovery Ministries at The Grove Church. He was a model of faith, strength and commitment in helping others.  He gave so much of himself. Joel was a dear friend to many and his humor, patience and loyalty is lovingly remembered by all who knew him. Over the years he enjoyed his time with friends and family, including fishing, card games and church fellowship. Survivors include his loving wife, Dot Messing Carr; 4 children: Jeff Carr of Merritt Island, Adrienne Carr, Courtney Carr and Nicholas Carr, all of Titusville; 6 grandchildren: Christian Carr, Mackenzie and Morgan Beam, and Erica, Jaydon and Javieon Mitchell; 12 siblings: Maureen (Alan) Standish, Michael (Lucia) Carr, Tommy (Jackie) Carr, Debbie (Scott) Stuart, Kevin (Laurie) Carr, Sheila Carr, Sr. Kathy Carr, Angela Montgomery, Beth (Bob) Strack, Monica (Richard) Goudis, Bernadette (Kevin) McDonald and Charlie (Gidget) Carr; and 19 nieces and nephews. Joel was preceded in death by his brother, Geoffrey Martin Carr, and his parents, Kathleen R. Carr and Charles H. Carr, Jr. A memorial service will be on Friday, March 15, 2019, 10:00 AM at North Brevard Funeral Home, 1450 Norwood Avenue, Titusville, FL 32796, immediately followed by inurnment at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Titusville.
