Jesse Wilburn Thompson

Jesse Wilburn Thompson, age 92, passed away in Titusville, FL on June 19, 2022. Jess, as family and friends called him, was born in Collingsworth County, TX to Gerald H. and Lola Warren Thompson on March 22, 1930. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, his parents, several brothers and sisters and daughters Debi Myers and Donna Lemons.

Jess was a graduate of Samnorwood High School and served in the U. S. Army from 1948 to 1952. After his honorable discharge from the Army Jess began his Oil and Gas career as an Engineer with Skelly Oil Company in Farmington, NM, then transferred to Hobbs, NM and eventually to Midland, Tx in 1969 where he took early retirement and he and Peggy owned numerous businesses in Midland including, A-1 Business Service, A-1 Employment Service, Thompson Office Supply, Thompson Flower Shop, The Bingo Barn and The Midtowner Deli.

Jess is survived by two daughters, Cindy Newton of Midland, TX and Elaine Newman of Port St. John, FL and 11 Grandchildren: Monica Kunkel, Gary Strickland, Shanna Fougerousse, Stephanie Kelly, Jessica Jordan, Tim Newton, Dawn Myers, David Newton, Amanda Lemons, Josh Lemons, Len Newman as well as numerous great grandchildren.
