Obituary

Jeffrie R. Risner, 51, passed away on Oct 11, 2021, surrounded by his family and friends.  Jeff was born on February 24, 1970 in Titusville, Florida and attended Astronaut High School.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida and worked in the restaurant business most his life.

Jeff loved all sports and was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Houston Astros. You rarely saw him in anything but orange clothing or some type of Tennessee gear.

Jeff lived the dream life just two blocks from New Smyrna beach, surfing and watching the sun rise over the water.  Jeff was a superb chef and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.  He made the best burgers on the beach!  He loved animals, especially boxers and the racoons who would visit his back porch, seeking the occasional friendly handout from his grill.   He loved all kinds of music and always had something playing while he was in the car, on the beach or just chilling on the back porch.

Jeff is survived by his long-time girlfriend Colleen Martin, his father Willie Risner, brother Byron (Pat), sister Jenny (Don), sister Cindy, aunt Patsy Risner, uncle Doyle Risner (Janet), his nephews Kenny (Ashley) and Connor, and nieces Amanda and Carlee. He is preceded in death by his mother Sonia Risner, and son Joshua.

Jeff was a fiercely loyal friend, father, son and brother.  He would give of his time and talents to help family and friends (and friends of friends).   Jeff will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

A celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held 3:00pm Thursday, October 14 at the Ocean Breeze Restaurant, 521 Flagler Avenue, New Smyrna Beach, FL.  Please wear Tennessee orange or your favorite sports team shirt.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to South East Volusia Humane Society (https://sevhumanesociety.org/) or Folds of Honor, which provides scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members (https://foldsofhonor.com).
