James "Alan" Jewby

James “Alan” Jewby, 81, died Monday, November 23, 2020 at his home in Titusville, Florida. Alan was born in Washington D.C. to William and Elizabeth Jewby on March 6, 1939 and lived in Arlington, Virginia until 1952. Following graduation from Pocomoke City High School in 1956, he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute prior to serving in the U.S. Army. Due to his love of the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains, the Jewby family moved to Colorado in 1972. Alan received an Associates Degree in Computer Programming from Front Range Community College in Colorado in 1977. He worked over 30 years for United Airlines as a ramp serviceman retiring in 1996. Alan was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers serving as a Union Steward for several years. Following retirement, the Jewbys moved from Colorado to Brevard County Florida in 1996 for the warmer climate.

Alan’s personal passions were his family, running on the beach, playing pinochle with friends, jigsaw puzzles and reading, especially his Bible. Alan had a creative spirit as well; he expressed these talents diversely through building furniture, model boats, drawing and painting.

Alan is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy of Titusville, Florida; his first wife, Barbara Bell of Arvada, Colorado and their four children Teresa Kalber of Westminster, Colorado; Chris (Angela) Jewby of Arvada, Colorado; Michelle Jewby of Windsor, Colorado; Kathleen Jewby of Westminster, Colorado; stepchildren Joe (Bonnie) Sajczuk of Mims, Florida and Jim (Holly) Sajczuk of Alachua, Florida; and his siblings Bill (Lorna) Jewby of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Betty Anne (Ron) Outten of Selbyville, Delaware, and Mary Jane Grutzmacher of Ellicott City, Maryland.

Alan was blessed with sixteen grandchildren: Crystyna (Jeffery) McFalls, Jessica Kalber; William Jewby, Joseph Jewby, Jedidiah (Jessica) McPherson, Petra McPherson, Sophia McPherson; Gregory Carney, Joshua Carney; Jaymes (Kaitlyn) Sajczuk, Lauren Sajczuk(11); Anya Sajczuk(12), and three great-grandchildren Talia(6), Gabriel(4) and Abigail(1) McFalls. He was preceded in death by grandson Marek Sajczuk(1/05-5/05).

A Celebration of Alan's life will be held at The Grove Church in Titusville, Florida at 1pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Alan's desire was for his ashes to be scattered in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
