Obituary

Horace L. Ross (Lee) went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2020. He was born on September 18, 1927 in Oakland City, IN where he grew up.  After high school graduation he joined the Navy proudly serving his country on a Mine Sweeper in the Pacific Ocean during WWII.  Upon receiving his discharge from the Navy he pursued his education at Evansville College (now Evansville University) receiving a degree in engineering.  Before moving to Brevard County, Lee served as assistant plant manager of Potter-Brumfield Co. in Franklin, KY.  He retired from Lockheed Missiles and Space Co as senior design engineer after 33 years working with missiles used on submarines.  He enjoyed his work and also traveling with his wife having made their first trip outside the U.S. in 1956 to Cuba.  This was the start of many trips and many years of travel to view God’s beautiful creation.  He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Mims, Fl since 1960 having served on many different committees and in many different capacities.  Tithing was his first priority.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Edith (Reid) Ross.  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dora;  Stepson, Anthony McKinney; Step grandchildren, Brian (Denise) McKinney and Karen (Bill) Rice; Step great grandchildren, Jessice Hulme,  Madeline, Candice, and Aaron Frohn;  Sister-in-laws, Helen Harvey and Marie Gentry; Brother-in-law, Jerry Otto; Several nieces and nephews. 

There will be a memorial service held on August 15, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Mims at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Baptist Church of Mims or charity of your choosing.  Please leave your condolences for the family at www.northbrevardfuneralhome.com
