George (Pete) Stewart was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 9, 1933 to Lillian and Archie Stewart. He attended St. Leo’s High School and in 1951 he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He served with the Korean Military Advisory Group from November 1951 through June 1953. Upon return from Korea he married his beautiful wife, Irene Molodovitch of Taylor, PA. He was then assigned to the White House Army Signal Agency 1954-1961; the Vietnam Military Advisory Group in 1963; and the 7th Army in Heidelberg, Germany from 1968-1970. During his military career he ran the Army Overseas Switchboard in the Pentagon and was a computer programmer in Germany and Fort Ritchie, Maryland. He retired from active service in March 1971 at Fort Ritchie, Maryland.
Mr. Stewart was employed by the U. S. Secret Service in March 1971. He worked as a computer specialist until 1980. He worked for various U. S. Government agencies until he retired in January of 1988. He and his wife moved to Titusville, Florida in March 1989. He loved to play ice hockey, tennis, do woodwork projects, work and play with his HO train set-up which was quite extensive, and work around the house. Pete loved to build pieces of furniture and donate them to anyone who had a use for that particular item. He also made desks for children and many other custom items, just because of his love of woodworking. Pete was also known for having a pocket of gold dollars that he loved to gift to children in the area, especially at Halloween.
He attended St. Teresa Catholic Church, Titusville and Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mims.
Pete was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.
Mr. Stewart was predeceased by his loving wife Irene. He is survived by his son Fred of Durham, NC; son Mark and wife Sharon of Raleigh, NC; grandson Paul and wife Meredith of Raleigh, NC; grandson Eric and wife Kristin of Falling Waters, WV; great granddaughters Reagan, Raleigh, Sadie and great grandson Joshua, all of Raleigh, NC.
A service and burial will be held on August 6, 2021 at 10am, Lane C at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims.
