Obituary

Gerald Malmrose Doucette Jr., 86 of Titusville FL and North Bridgton, ME passed away peacefully Monday, January 13, 2020 after a brief illness.  Born in Stoneham MA, he resided in many places as a child including Falmouth Foreside where he learned his love of boating which he did for eight decades on Casco Bay, Long Lake, and the waters of Florida. He attended Wentworth Institute in Boston MA. He was a Korean War Vet, serving four years in the Navy on the USS Sarda.  He was a past captain of the North Bridgton Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a member of the Maine SubVets, a Mason in Oriental Lodge 13 of Bridgton ME and a member of Kora Shriners of Lewiston ME. He was a past selectman of Bridgton ME and past president of the Maine Campground Owners Association (MECOA). He owned and operated Lakeside Pines Campground where he met an extended family of thousands over five decades.  He enjoyed collecting antique autos, his favorite being his 1970 Dodge pickup truck.  He could often be seen visiting campers in his golf cart modified to look like his truck.

Gerald is survived by his wife Charlene (Gravelin) Doucette, son Gregory (Maureen), daughter Bethanne Baker (Matt), son Todd, son Mark (Dorothy), and son Scott, daughter inlaw Brenda, brother Robert, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grand-children. Preceded in death by son John, father Gerald M. Doucette Sr, mother Shirley Elizabeth (Haines) Doucette and sister Lynne Hackett.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Royal Oaks and Hospice of St. Francis for the outstanding and compassionate care they provided.  A memorial service is planned for the summer in North Bridgton ME. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of St. Francis, 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780 or the charity of your choice.
