Gary Lee Cassell, 68, passed away on June 18, 2020. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was born to Harold Cassell and Lois Cassell on September 19, 1951, in Carrollton, Georgia. Gary graduated from Cocoa High School and attended Brevard Community College. He worked for Gannett Corporation at Today Newspaper for a decade as a platemaker. He recently retired after a 40-year career as a senior draftsman at Kennedy Space Center.
Gary was an avid reader, historian, and patriot, with a particular interest in U.S. military history, firearms, antiques and was successful at tracing his family’s ancestry. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and participated in Civil War re-enactments. Over his lifetime, he developed a passion for antique cars (especially Studebaker and Ford), and he loved Classical and Big Band music. He spent years collecting vinyl for the top 100 hits of the 50’s and 60’s. He will be deeply missed by his family and those dear to his heart.
Gary is survived by his mother, Lois Cassell; son, Sean Cassell; daughter, Alisha Cassell; grandsons: Connor Cassell, Callum Cassell, Shane Cassell; great grandson, Everett Cassell. He is also survived by his siblings: Gail Allen, Greg Cassell, Cheryl Byrd and his many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Cassell.
There will be a 9 a.m. visitation held on Monday, June 22, and a service following at 10 a.m. at North Brevard Funeral Home, 1450 Norwood Ave, in Titusville.
