Fred Hamann was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 23, 1935. Service in the United States Navy brought him to Central Florida, where he met his devoted wife of 64 years, Barbara. Fred enjoyed simple pleasures, such as fishing, golf, and watching Florida State Football with his son, Glen.
Fred, had a long successful career with the Orlando Police Department, where he retired as a Sergeant in 1981. Throughout his career, Fred "walked the beat" where he witnessed the construction of I-4. Fred was also assigned to the Motor Unit and Criminal Investigations where he is credited with solving numerous cases to include a homicide from out of state by ascertaining a confession from a suspect without even knowing the facts of the case.
After retiring from OPD in 1981, Fred shared his knowledge and experience with several companies, helping them with safety, security, and risk management. After fully retiring, Fred and Barbara moved to Titusville and then began traveling the country, visiting 42 of the lower 48 states. One of his most favorites being Yellowstone National Park.
Fred is survived by his wife Barbara, son Glen & daughter-in-law, Daedra, as well as his sister Sharon, brother Ken & sister-in-law Charlotte, and many nieces and nephews.
