Dorothy Wiggan McKinney, was born in Sterling Castle, Jamaica on March 8, 1943 to Charles and Linnett Wiggan. Dorothy was the oldest of seven children. She came to the United States in 1961 and lived in Manhattan, New York. The family later moved to Brooklyn, New York in 1963.
In 1964 Dorothy met Richard Bartholemew. In 1965 she later married and to this union they created three beautiful children Tina, (Brent preceded her in death).
Later Dorothy retired as a Nurses Assistant after working for many years. In February 1988 Dorothy met and married George McKinney and the resided in Kansas City, Missouri. They then had a blended family. George had three children from a previous marriage: Brenda McKinney, Stephanie Keith) Thomas, and Angela Sneed. Dorothy and her husband of 36 years relocated and retired to Titusville, Florida.
Dorothy later joined Rivers of Life Outreach Ministry where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail. On April 9, 2024 Dorothy passed away peacefully at home on where she was escorted by the angelic hosts to her final resting place. No more sickness and no more pain.
Throughout her life, Dorothy McKinney touched the lives of many with her kindness, generosity and unwavering love for her family, crocheting, gardening and cooking/baking, her legacy will live on through the memories she created and the lives that she touched.
She leaves many cherished memories: A Dear Devoted husband George McKinney of 36 years, loving and devoted children: Tina Bartholemew, Powder Spring, Ga., Pierre Bartholemew (Charmane) Roswell, Ga., A Devoted Sister Yvonne (Phillip) Gordon, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Brothers: Charles (Tony), Burbank, Ca., Leon (Janice), English Town, New Jersey. (Siblings preceded her in death Marjorie, Calvin and Roswell) Dorothy deeply loved all her grandchildren: Lance, Danielle, Olivia, Brent Jr., Alexis, Julian, Jordan and Jackson, three Step Daughters: Angela Sneed, Montezuma, Ga., Stephanie (Keith) Thomas, Roosevelt, New York and Brenda McKinney, Brooklyn, New York Her love and affection enriched their lives and she will be deeply missed by each of them. The memories will be treasured by all her siblings, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, warmth and compassion.
