Obituary

Doris Crannell

February 18, 2021 age 97

Doris of Titusville, Florida died unexpectedly from complications following a minor procedure on Thursday February 18th in an Orlando hospital. At her passing she was surrounded by her loving family at her hospital bedside.

Doris, a community icon and 77-year resident of Titusville, was broadly known for her infectious smile, caring nature and unwavering support for those enduring medical and emotional struggles. Friends knew her for her warm and likeable nature. Her wide range of friends treasured the many occasions she provided gourmet quality comfort food and deserts to cheer them up. She stayed mentally sharp, independent and active until her passing. Loved keeping up with family and friends on her iPad. Doris especially enjoyed the challenging game of Bridge and played almost weekly until her passing.

Doris was born on October 29, 1923 to Thomas and Ada Baskin in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She graduated with Honors from high school and immediately was recruited by the Production War Board in Washington, DC to support our countries WW II program. While there she met her husband Lt Philip Crannell who was training for immediate deployment to the European theater. They married 2 months before his deployment and so began a loving marriage lasting 72 years until his passing.

They moved to Titusville in 1945. Doris was an administrative assistant to the Brevard County Tax Collector for 20 years. She was an active member of St Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, PEO and The Questers Antique Club.

Doris is survived by her three children, a son Philip A. Crannell, Jr.(Angeli) of Jupiter, FL, her daughter Karen Crannell Judd (Leland Hevner) of Orlando, FL, her son Timothy S. Crannell (Barbara Cowan) of Titusville; grandchildren Brent Coble (Sonia), Todd Crannell, Justin Coble (Jeanene), Brooke Crannell Dieterich (Jeff), Kristin Coble Hiltzheimer (Ben), Branden Crannell (Brittany Criss) and her thirteen great-grandchildren: Caleb, Izzy, Kai, Gabby, Kellen, Carter, Maya, Trent, Sid, Tec, Gavin.
