Obituary

Donald (Don) Claude Schedler, 71, passed away March 12, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Don was born in Buffalo, NY and spent most of his life in North Brevard. During the Vietnam War he served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Gilmore. In 2006, after a long career in the space program, he retired from United Space Alliance. His contributions, which included the Apollo and Shuttle programs, earned him NASA’s Exceptional Public Service Medal in 1997. Don had a passion for racing, and restoring cars and motorcycles which shaped a large part of his life. He was an avid Corvette enthusiast and a founding member of the Titusville Corvette Club. Don will be remembered most for his wit and humor which brought joy to all those who knew him.  He would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary in July. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Stephen Schedler, mother Grace Reynolds Schedler, and sister Susan Schedler.  He is survived by his wife Carolyn D. Lynn Schedler of Titusville, his sons Steve Schedler and Nathan Schedler of Titusville, and Danny Schedler of Orlando, sister Sharon Glatthorn of Linville, NC, and brother Dick Schedler of Titusville. Memorial service will be held Friday March 23 at 10:30am at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL
