Obituary

Diane Mary Weaver,76, of Merritt lsland, passed into the eternal light on May 2, 2021 following a prolonged illness with Huntington's Disease. Diane was born in Mount Vernon, New York on April 10, 1945. She was raised a Catholic by her deceased parents, Christina Mary Keith and Thomas Stanley Keith, in Carlstadt, New Jersey. Following graduation from St. Mary's High School she enrolled at Trenton State University and began work as a Service Representative for New Jersey Bell Telephone. She married John, her husband of 54 years in 1967 at St. Mary's church in East Rutherford, New Jersey and they began their lives together in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The following year they moved to Titusville, Florida and Diane began work for Southern Bell in Communications at Kennedy Space Center on the Apollo/Saturn Space Program. Diane was responsible for arranging telephone service for the news media at the KSC press site. She was an employee of the Bell Telephone Company for over 30 years in various locations as a Service Representative and Manager until her retirement from the Merritt lsland office in 1995. On her retirement Diane and John traveled extensively in Europe and around the North American continent. Touring wine country in ltaly, finding her family roots in Canada and driving Route 66 in their Corvette were among her most memorable trips. Diane took pride in her career, in community service, and she enjoyed oil and water color painting as a hobby. Diane was a graduate of Brevard Community College and the University of Central Florida. She was a member of Our Saviors Catholic Church, the Telephone Pioneers of America, Past President of the Titusville Junior Women's Club, and was an accomplished artist. ln addition to being a community volunteer Diane was instrumental in founding a local Huntington's Disease Support Group as well as participating in clinical research and providing philanthropic support in search of a cure for HD. She was a resident of many years at Melodie's Place LLC, in Canaveral Groves, Florida, and a hospice patient of Vitas Healthcare. She received excellent care while in the charge of both organizations. Diane is survived by her husband, John, Sister-in-law Sandy Keith of Gilbert, Arizona, nieces, Kathy Bell and husband Steve of Gainesville, Florida, Diane Gohn and husband Larry of Winter Haven, Florida, Pam Gimson Beck and husband Barry Beck of Key West, Florida, nephews Tom Keith lll of Gilbert, Arizona, and Mike Keith and wife Nicole also of Gilbert. Brother-in-law Gene Gimson resides in Winter Haven, Florida. She had 7 grandnieces and nephews, Lauryn, Madison, Lexi, lvy, Justin, Kaden and David. She was predeceased by her brothers Tom and Jim also HD patients and sister-in-law Nancy Gimson. Funeral arrangements and cremation are being conducted by the North Brevard Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11AM at North Brevard Funeral Home and her ashes will be inurned at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville.
