Desmond H. Vickers, age 95, of Nashville, Ga., passed away peacefully Monday, March 15, 2023, at St. Frances Reflections Lifestage Care, Titusville, Fl. He grew up in Sefner Fl. He attended the University of Tampa and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He joined the Navy upon graduation and later married Mary Louise Chive. They lived a short time in Orlando, Fl , then moved to Merritt Island, Fl, where they resided for over 60 years. Desmond was the manager of Pittsburgh Paint in Cocoa, Fl. In his retirement years he started his own business, Paint Centers of Central Florida. He supported the Merritt Island High School Marching band, was president of the Quarterback club and served on the PTA. He enjoyed watching various sports for the University of Florida Gators. Desmond lived a good life. He loved to “bend your ear” while sipping Coca Cola and telling stories from the past. He lived his life on his terms and was proud of the fact that he lived independently in his own home until three and half days before his death.
Desmond is preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise and daughter Mary Ann. He leaves behind his two sons Steve and Ken Vickers and their spouses, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family plan to have a private Celebration of Life for Desmond.
