Obituary

Dave, 58, has passed on to another life with God after losing his earthly battle with cancer. David was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Nieves, "Nicki," Schehl and David H. Peterson Sr. before relocating to Titusville, Florida. David loved without limits and was an Artist, a Patriot and most ingenious in every way. With multiple natural talents along with his mechanical mind, David used all he had to help others without hesitation. David worked in his early years in the Daytona area as a graphic design artist at Southern State Directory, in the printing field where he worked for Direct Mail Express, in an auto body shop where he used his artistry to reshape and mold car panels in addition to working the spray booth. He had a gallery displaying his oil paintings and pottery creations in both Kentucky and Titusville. He developed a homemade Venetian plaster formula and by hand application adorned the ceilings and walls in many family member homes that are still awe-inspiring today. He was an avid wood furniture refinisher and forever restoring all he found. For a period of years David lived in the mountains of New Mexico where his Mother was born and raised. The locals called him "city boy" and said he "could not," but he built a one room log cabin by hand and by living off the land he survived several winters. He had planned along with his step-dad, Tom Schehlto build an A-frame family home until this was cut short when David returned to Titusville to be of support during Tom's health issues. He lived an adventurous life. According to David, everything and everyone was of value and fixable. He lived in a manner that showed his belief in God. We know that he will be a joy and help in Heaven. David is survived by his Dad, David Howard Peterson, Sr., his siblings, Teresa Montero and her husband Art, Monica Benninghoff and her husband David, Naoma Peterson, Richard Peterson and his wife MaryJo, and Donna Peterson. ln addition to this his many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving Mom and Dad, "Tom," his younger brother Stephen, and nephew Chris Benninghoff. We know that he has given many loving memories, and he will not be forgotten by so many others. We were all fortunate to have known him and look forward to seeing him again when our time comes. After all, we are all "just passing through." A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 10:30AM.
