David Lee Kierstead

David L. Kierstead, Sr., a retired government and military person, passed away August 12, 2018. He was proceeded in death by his wife Elly of 35 years. Mr. Kierstead was born in Jonesboro, Indiana in 1931. He came to Brevard County in 1984 from Topeka, Ks. Her retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant with over 27 years of active duty. He was a veteran of the Korea and Vietnam wars, serving in both theaters. He was employed by the Kansas Air Guard as a metrologist for 8 years and the Defense Logistics Agency for 10 years, serving over 45 years with the U.S. government.

He loved his family and had many hobbies throughout his life. He stayed active as an amateur astronomer, painter, playing the guitar, building model racecars, filming and editing small documentaries, hydroponics, but most importantly being involved with his grandchildren. He volunteered his services to the video news making at Park Avenue Baptist Church, of which he was a member. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was an active supporter of the USCDKA national Tae Kwon Do association.

He is survived by two sons, David L. Kierstead Jr. and Alan C. Kierstead, two lovely daughters-in-law Holly and Barbara, and seven wonderful grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 23rd from 6-7:30 pm at Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, Fl. Services will be held at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Titusville, Fl. At 3 pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018.
