Daris G. Johnson, 81 of Titusville, FL died Sunday May 5, 2019 at VITAS Inpatient Hospice, Rockledge, FL. He was the son of the late Arley M. and Irene Butler Johnson and was born in Summersville, WV on March 18, 1938. After graduation from Nicholas County High School he proudly served in the United States Army. Daris owned a barber shop in Titusville, was known to many as the Bee Man or the Marble Man, and retired from EG&G after many years at the Space Center. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of IRC spanning 6 decades. He found pleasure in annual hunting trips to the hunt camp in Virginia with family and friends, going to yard sales, “setting up” at antique shows and flea markets and fishing with his grandchildren.
Daris was preceded in death by brothers: Arley Junior and Clarence Johnson; sisters: Lillian Bailes, Ruth Forren, and Phyllis Copenhaver. Both Betty Sue Donaldson his wife of 31 years and Geraldine Pence Littrelle his wife of 24 years widowed him.
He is survived by brother Darrell Johnson of Craigsville, WV brother-in-law Tom Bailes of Summersville, WV and sister-in-law Doris Johnson of Canvas; daughters Lanetta Johnson Putnal of Somerset, NJ and Susan Keldsen; grandchildren Kyle Koshinski (Melissa) of Palm Bay, FL, Ellyna Putnal (Kai Odle) of Orlando, FL, Camden Putnal of Somerset, NJ, Rylee Keldsen of Manhattan Beach, CA and special nephew Michael Bailes of Daytona, FL.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 7th at 5:00 pm followed by services at 6:00 pm at the North Brevard Funeral Home, 1450 Norwood Ave., Titusville, FL. A Celebration of the Life of Daris will be held from 7-8:00 pm at First Baptist Church of IRC, 360 Knox McRae Drive also in Titusville.
Additional viewing will be held at Friday, May 10th at 2:00 pm followed by services at 3:00 pm at White Funeral Home, 700 Broad Street, Summersville, WV and internment in Walker Memorial Cemetery, also in Summersville. Following internment family and friends are invited to celebrate Daris’s life at Up Yonder, 205 Up Yonder Drive, Summersville, WV.
Loving family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
