Christianna Downs

Christianna “Chris” Downs, age 86, passed away peacefully in her home January 7, 2021.  Chris was born May 18, 1934 to Friedrich “Fritz” and Dorothy Vulpius in Westchester County, New York.   She grew up in New Rochelle, New York until 1951 when her parents retired to Brevard County, Florida where Chris attended Titusville High School, graduating in the class of 1952. 

Chris was an active member of the P.E.O. sisterhood for many years where she formed cherished bonds with her fellow sisters, empowering females in education.  She worked as a manager over the Engineering Drawing & Data Center department of Kennedy Space Center.  She was dedicated to family often serving as Girl Scout leader and home room mother.   She loved crafting, baking, and watching her grandchildren play.  

She married the love of her life, Bradley, 37 years ago.  Together they enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling the country, and nature walks.

Chris is survived by her husband Bradley “Brad” Downs, four children from her first marriage to Bobby Davis, Catherine Carr, Robin Lorber (Michael), Leslie Davis (John Bond), Derek Davis, six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.  

A Celebration of Life service will be held at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at 3 p.m. with visitation immediately preceding at 1 p
