Obituary

Karen Christian Louise Ebert, a faithful follower of Christ, passed into glory August 2, 2019, in Titusville, FL, after a spirited battle with cancer.

The most important thing in her life was her intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. A gifted mentor, her teachings were enhanced by her vast knowledge of Hebrew, Jewish cultural history and church history. Chris was a beloved and well-known retreat speaker, as well as creator and host of the “Great Cloud” television series on Good Life 45, Orlando. Her love for Christ was reflected through the kindness she showed every person who crossed her path. She could always make you laugh, often drawing on vignettes of the “Three Stooges”. Her humor was legendary amongst those who knew her, and it helped carry her through some of the dark times of life.

Known as Chris to many, she was born in Spokane, Washington, the only daughter among four brothers. As an Air Force “BRAT” moving frequently, she developed a fearless, adventurous spirit that never left her. From an early age she loved sports, and in both high school and collage she competed in track and field with a specialty in the javelin.

After graduating from Central High School in Breeze, IL she attended the Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS and then joined the U.S. Air Force. Her first assignment was at NORAD in Colorado followed by pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in Texas. She was among the early cadre of women to enter military aviation with assignments flying medical evacuation and reconnaissance aircraft. When she left the Air Force, she transitioned to commercial aviation and retired as a Captain at United Airlines after 20+ years. Living and traveling across the globe gave her a deep interest in and love for peoples and cultures.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents Warren John Ebert, Patricia Barstow Ebert and brother Daniel. She is survived by brothers Donald, Douglas, and David Ebert, their spouses and children, and many loving friends.
