Charlotte C Short

Charlotte Cecelia Short nee Joynt was born on November 2, 1930 in Montville, Connecticut to Christine Adeline Turck and Sherwood Andrew Joynt.  She graduated in 1948 from the Norwich Free Academy, in Norwich, CT.  Charlotte married Jack Short on August 1, 1951 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Montville, CT.   The couple moved to Titusville, Florida in 1958. They were parishioners of St Teresa’s and founding members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, in Mims, FL.  They had six children, and were happily married until Jack’s death in 1993.

Charlotte was the last living member of her birth family.  She was preceded in death by her father, Sherwood; her mother, Christine; her brothers, Stuart, Leo and Bryan; and her sister, Veronica. She was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Sherwood, and her great-grandson, Jonas.

Charlotte is survived by sons Kevin Short and his wife Linda of Mims, FL and Tex Short and his wife Jan of Titusville, FL; and daughters Christine Short of St. Augustine, FL, Siobhan and her husband Wade Wright of Mims, FL, and Monica and her husband David Fee of Kettering, OH. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was a woman of strong character, deep faith, and great love.  She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and so much more.  She was the matriarch of the Short family for many, many years and is remembered with abiding love by the family; her passing has left a hole that can never be filled.
