Obituary

Carl Dee Thorn, 73, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on July 23, 2020.  Carl was born in Ironton, Missouri on May 15, 1947 to the late, Gene and Betty Thorn. He attained his Associates degree while in college.  He worked in Information Technology in the Aerospace Industry for NASA, retiring in 2012 with 30 years of government service.  He was a proud veteran that served with honor and courage in The United States Navy onboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War. Carl also served in the Missouri Air National Guard for 13 years and worked overseas with McDonnell Douglas, teaching maintenance on the F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft.  He was the father to three beautiful daughters that say, “He told the worst “Best Dad Jokes” but he was the Best Dad in the World and even better Grandpa. He was a man of thoughtful words and the giver of great advice.  Carl loved people and especially loved the Lord. He was an elder at Walk About Ministry Stepping Stone Fellowship and ministered to many. Carl will be missed by all those that were blessed to know and love him.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Thorn; Daughters Sarah Ellis (Chris), Lindsey Holladay (Greg) and Kristin Cruz (Alvin); Grandchildren: Tyler, Kadin, Keegan, Alani, Drew, Devin, Elijah, Gracie, George, Byron and Angel; Great Granddaughter, Aubrey; Brother, Dale Thorn; Sister, Donna Hill and family; Bill and Linda Hogan and family and Doris Hull.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Betty Thorn; Brother, David Thorn and Father-in-law, Lawrence Hull. 

There will be calling hours between 4-7 pm on July 30, 2020 at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville. A service will be held the following morning at 9:30 am.

Graveside service to follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Service for immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of St. Francis (https://www.hosffoundation.org/donate).
