Ammie G Daniel

Surrounded by her children, Ammie Gilmore Daniel, 95, of Titusville, FL, passed away at home on April 29^th, 2022.

Ammie was born in Sandersville, GA, on June 17, 1926, to James and Mary Gilmore. Her family moved to Brooksville, FL, when she was six months old. She graduated from Hernando High School in 1944 and became an operator for Southern Bell. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Herbert Lee Daniel, for 49 years. They lived in France for several years while Herb was in the U.S. Army, allowing them to travel extensively around Europe. They eventually settled in Petersburg, VA. Ammie had many wonderful memories and made lifelong friends while Herb was serving in the military. After his retirement from the military in 1963, Herb and Ammie settled in Titusville with their six children, where they raised their family and lived for the rest of their lives. “Mama Herb” helped build Daniel’s Truck and Auto, where she was secretary and treasurer until the business closed in 2017. She was also involved with the local Masonic Lodge.

Ammie was a true Southern lady. She was always polite, hospitable, and smiling. She loved southern cooking and would feed anyone that stopped by. Her favorite hobbies were quilting, genealogy, and crossword puzzles—she took Latin in school and knew the root of any word. But her favorite thing in this world was her family, who loved her dearly. She was proud of all her children and felt they were her gifts from God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb; her sons, Herbert Jr., William, Thomas, and Charles; and son-in-law, Michael Ammons, and her sister, Louise Stringfield. She is survived by her children Lee Daniel (Kathy), Luanne Ammons, Tammie Gulbrand, and daughter-in-law Maria McNerney; grandchildren Jamie Gulbrand (Charles), Amanda Tullis (Terry), Elliott Gulbrand (Carrie), Mariah Seus (Paul), and 4 great grandchildren.  

We will miss the matriarch of our family- her strength, faith, grace, wisdom, and love will be carried in our hearts forever.
