Adam Ray Sluis

October 26, 1973 ~ April 21, 2022 (age 48) 48 Years Old

Obituary

Adam Ray Sluis, 48, passed away peacefully following a one month battle with cancer on April 21, 2022, surrounded in love by his life partner and love of his life, Catrina; as well as, his loving family by his side.

Adam was born in Hobart, Indiana, where he fell in love with Chicago sports. (GO CUBS!!) He moved to Merritt Island, Florida, at the age of 11 and remained in Brevard County, FL, the rest of his life with the exception of his time in college at FSU. Adam loved and was loved by many. Throughout his journey he formed and bonded numerous meaningful, lasting relationships with people from Indiana, Illinois, and Florida; as well as loved ones from Lewis Carroll Elementary, Edgewood, MIHS, and his baseball teams. During his work career he met many and maintained everlasting friendships from Winn Dixie (where he originally met Catrina), FSU, hoops/OFBL, United Space Alliance/NASA/Kennedy Space Center, DynCorp/AAR/Iraq/PC, and through his hobby of motorcycle riding to include his motorcycling brothers at DOTUS. Adam absolutely cherished his beloved family to include his forever love and their fur babies, his eternally loving mom, and his forever supportive sister and her sons.

Adam was dedicated, honorable, respectful, determined, intelligent, organized, responsible, reliable, dependable, punctual, hardworking, inventive, competitive, and funny with an adventurous side. He was full of life, humor, sharp wit, and sarcasm which brought smiles and laughs to many. He loved to work out, shoot hoops, shoot pool, watch sports, banter playfully with others, and spend time at home with his family. He enjoyed seeing others happy; and it touched his heart to donate to others and see them light up with joy. Adam loved watching his beloved nephews grow into the young men that they are now. He enjoyed working for Aerospace, in addition to the Aviation industry. He enjoyed traveling and seeing the world around him while experiencing specialty foods, craft beers, and fine bourbon with his love by his side. Adam loved his family and in return was immensely loved by them. He had a magnetic energy that drew others to him. He was a private person who allowed his trusted home/sanctuary into his deeper realm that he did not share with the rest of the world. Adam was a deep soul that did not always express how much he genuinely cared for others; and yet the depth that existed to his core was beautiful to witness. He will be forever missed by all those that were privileged to know him and love him.

Adam is survived by his Life Partner, Catrina Pauley; Mom, Diann Grace Sluis; Sister, Amber Lasher; Nephews: Thomas and Tyler Lasher and Michael Henderson; Father, Robert J. Sluis; and Many Loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Adam and Betty Sluis; Grandmother, Phyllis Warren; Maternal Grandparents, Raymond E. and Eula “Margie” Russ; Maternal Uncle, Billy Stewart; and his sweet Aunt Celeste who was waiting for him with open arms.
