Steve Jerome Barnes

Steve Jerome Barnes, 65, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018 at his home in Mims, Florida, with his loving wife by his side.  He was born on May 10, 1953 in Slocomb, Alabama to Felix and Frances Barnes.  Steve was one of six children and his family was very important to him.

Steve graduated from Titusville High School in 1971 and became a master carpenter working in Central Florida before taking a job with Brevard County as Supervisor of Facilities.  He retired from Brevard County in 2018 and settled in Mims to begin his retirement.

Steve was an avid fisherman and spent his spare time fishing the saltwater and freshwater bodies of water in Central Florida. Steve also enjoyed cooking and often prepared meals for family gatherings.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Frances, and his sister, Barbara Frances.  Steve is survived by his wife Brenda and son Jonathan of Mims, FL, step-son Ryan Oliver of Petersburg, VA and grandson, Ethan Oliver of Titusville, FL, and his sisters Glenda (Darrell) Thompson of Tallahassee, FL and Kathy (Lou) Zubowicz of Leesburg, FL and his brothers Mike (Teri) Barnes of Titusville, FL and Robert (Debbie) Barnes of Oviedo, FL.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2018 at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, FL.  Steve will be buried in a private service held by the family.
