Obituary

Sam (Salvatore) Oliveto age 98 died peacefully on October 5th. Sam was the son of John and Barbara Oliveto,  formerly of San Giovanni, Italy. Sam is survived by his Wife Michelle, his Daughter Gina Burke, his son Larry Oliveto, his step daughters Annette Grossi and Christine McNamara, and his Step Grandchildren: Sarah , Leanne, Laura and Daniel.  He is preceded in death by his Wife Theresa Oliveto and his son James Oliveto.  He is the last of all his 6 siblings (Thomas, Rose, Judy,  Mary, Philomena, and "Buddy") to pass. Sam was born on December 18, 1919.  He was a WWII veteran, member of the 28th Infantry Division in WWII 110th Infantry Regiment, receiving the Bronze Star, Army Medal of Honor, and a medal for each of the four Campaigns he fought in.  He received the French Legion Of Honor La Legion D'Honneur for the liberation of France.  Born in Clarksburg West Virginia, he raised his family in Southfield Michigan before retiring to Florida.  He worked for Excello Corporation as a tool and die maker in Highland Park, Michigan Sam was know for his warm friendly outgoing personality, his writing of poetry.  He and Michelle were passionate about dancing, as members of the Space Trackers Dance Club they regularly performed ballroom, square dancing, Line dancing, Rumba, Waltz, Salsa, and Cha Cha. . .  Sam was always ready tell a clean joke and a story, and he and Michelle loved to travel and go on cruises. Sam often volunteered to help people, he was kind, thoughtful, generous, always ready to lend a hand. He was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church.
