Fernando Compagine, 85, of Titusville, FL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18th.
Mr. Compagine lived a full and happy life. Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1931, he enjoyed a successful career with Western Union International, first in Havana and then in New York City, after his immigration in 1963. He lived in New York for 21 years, where he met his wife Marta (Calvo) Compagine. In 1984, he and his wife moved with their daughters Anna Marie and Rose Mary to Titusville, FL where he completed a second career with the City of Titusville. Retirement didn’t sit well, and Mr. Compagine began his final career, working 10 years as security guard at Brevard Community College.
Mr. Compagine was actively involved in his community, participating in and serving as President for the Latin American Club. He also supported the arts, acting in local stage productions. A lifelong Yankees fan, Mr. Compagine also carried on his love for baseball through the years, playing for numerous local leagues and stopping by high school practices to help young athletes hone their skills.
Mr. Compagine leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Marta (Calvo) Compagine; his daughters Cecilia Maria, Anna Marie, and Rose Mary; his grandchildren Yoanka, Joanet, Maxemilio, Frederick, Lola Belle, Harry Augustin, and Ruben Emanuel; and his great-grandson, Kevin. He is also survived by his many friends and large extended family.
Mr. Compagine’s viewing will be from 10am to noon on Saturday, March 25th at North Brevard Funeral Home with the funeral immediately following. Mourners are encouraged to wear Yankees Blue or Yankees gear in honor of their #1 fan.
