Obituary

Barbara Alice Blankenship Pruett (Jiggs) 87 of Cocoa, FL entered her eternal rest on 4/12/24. Barbara was born 6/16/36 to John Henry and Kathleen Elizabeth Hudnall Blankenship in Glasgow WV.

Barbara was a Majorette and graduated at East Bank High School.

After relocating to Washington DC Barbara worked as an administrator in the Pentagon, on Capitol Hill, in Banking, for Attorneys, and traveled World Wide in Magazine Publishing.

She met her first husband Louis Donald Pruett traveled to Italy, then raising their two children Larry Mark and Lesleigh Dee. Barbara later married her second husband Russell, where they welcomed Russlynn Amy Herrick and raised their children in Northern Virginia. 

In retirement, Barbara spent most of her free time quilting, sewing and painting for all of her loved ones. She found joy in quilting for the community as well.

Through all of Barbara’s health complications and triumphs, she continued to be full of life and never stopped enjoying her family every day.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen & John Henry, brothers, Ray Blakenship and Gary Blakenship, sister Anna Mae McCallister, daughter Lesleigh Dee Pruett.

Barbara’s spirit is carried on by her siblings: brother, Marvin Wayne (Dagwood) Blankenship, sisters, Sandra Pritchard and Sally Bettinger.  Son Larry Mark Pruett (Jennifer), daughter, Russlynn Amy Sexton (Robert).  Granddaughters, Crystal. Elizabeth, Candace, Megan and Emily and ten Great Grandchildren.

Service will be Saturday May 4th, 12:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home, 600 Old Fort St. Cedar Groves, entombment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
