Ellis James Braman
Titusville, Florida

Ellis James Braman, Lt. Col. (ret), age 78, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Parrish Medical Center, Titusville.  He was born on April 19, 1936, to Ellis J. Braman and Mary L. (Westbrooke) Braman.  In 1954, he graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati.  Four years later, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was active in Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.  He went on to serve as a Civil Engineer in the United States Air Force for 23 years with duty stations in South Korea, Wisconsin, the Panama Canal Zone, Virginia, South Vietnam, Germany, England, and Alabama, where he earned an MBA from Auburn University.  While in Virginia, he met Susan who would become his wife for the next 45 years.

In 1982, they moved to Titusville, where he was employed by private contractors at Kennedy Space Center until he retired from United Space Alliance.

E.J. is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carolyn Braman McKinney.  Besides his wife, he is survived by three nephews, Mark McKinney, David McKinney and Jim McKinney and his wife Cathy, and children Skye, Zane and Dexter; and several dear cousins.

He was a long-time Boston Bruins and Red Sox fan, and for years through thick and thin, he cheered vigorously for the Green Bay Packers.

Once he fully retired, he honed his golf game on Wednesdays with golfers from St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church.  On Fridays, he played with his regular foursome at La Cita Golf and Country Club, where he was a member.

E.J. was a good and generous man.  He loved his Church; he loved his country; he loved his family including an array of Siamese cats.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church followed by a reception in Pobjecky Hall.  Memorial donations may be made to St. Gabriel’s or to a charity of your choice.
